PokerStars breaks record for most players playing simultaneously on cash game tables PokerStars has broken another world record. This time it was for the most players playing simultaneously on cash game tables. According to PokerScout.com, PokerStars had a staggering 105,230 players on their cash game tables on September 22nd. This number beats the previous record by more than 2,000 players. It's believed that PokerStars current promotions are credited with driving the record numbers. With PokerStars’ 50 billionth hand celebration and the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) running when the record was made theres really no question about that. PokerScout.com reported that PokerStars saw a double digit increase in traffic while running the two promotions siphoning off players from competeing sites such as Full Tilt which saw a 5% decline in the past week. The new regulations in France regarding the licensing and regulation of online poker has also helped with PokerStars’ traffic increase. Since the regulation’s recent introduction PokerStars' new domain for French player's "PokerStars.fr" has been within the top 10 French poker sites consistently. PokerScout also stated that overall the online poker industries traffic numbers are still on the rise and that real money player numbers are showing an annual growth rate of roughly 7%. PokerStars current market share is enjoying 20% of the overall growth and has nearly a 2-1 edge in cash game traffic against its next closest competitor (Full Tilt Poker) and is one of the few major sites to still accept U.S. players.
