Cake Poker began operations in 2004 when a small team of poker players decided to get togther to build a unique poker room. Currently, it sits on the Cake Poker Network along side nearly 30 other leading online poker rooms. Cake Poker is a medium size poker room at best and there current real money player statistics are showing 2,000 ring game players and 10,000 tournament players at peak hours as of December 2011.
Cake Poker's main promotion is the Gold Card promotion and the $500 new depositer freerolls. Gold Cards are earned by playing raked hands in cash games and can be redeemed for a number of things including tournament entries and jackpot draws. They also run a Gold Chip promotions where you earn Gold Chips for playing raked hands or by paying tournament fees. Gold Chips are used to buy into special Gold Chip tournaments. Cake Poker also offers a frequent player point program where you can purchase the items mentioned above with your points.
Cake Poker offers every variation of poker except draw and low ball games. You won't see much traffic on anything other than Holdem and Omaha but hopefully with the steady traffic increase they are seeing the other games will pick up as well. The game selection includes Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven Card stud, Seven Card Stud 8 or Better, five card Stud and Texas Holdem at stakes of as little as ¢.01/¢.02.
The Cake Poker software is obviously run on the Cake Poker Network which is known for crisp and clean graphics and great playability. Some of the features include the ability to easily multi table up to eight tables at once (you can open an unlimited amount of tables but eight is the recommended cap), an easy to use player stats feature and a hand history feature that also keeps track of player chat. The software doesn't really offer any over the top features but all the functions are useful in helping the player customize the game play to their liking.
Overall Cake Poker is a great place to play your poker and is well known for soft play at any limit.
